This year’s candlelight ski and walk at Lake Maria State Park will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, but organizers are keeping their options open regarding snow cover. If there is enough snow (3-4 inches of fresh snow prior to the event), a 1 1/2-mile lighted trail will be open for skiers, as well as a half-mile trail for walking also lit by luminaries. For trail conditions and directions, call (763) 878-2325 or visit the park’s Web site at www.mnstatepark.info. Trails begin at the park’s nature center. If there is not enough snow for skiing, the lighted trail for walkers will be open. In addition to skiing and walking, there will be a lighted skating pond and a supervised bonfire next to the center. Refreshments will be provided by local businesses and served by the Friends of Lake Maria. There will be a $5 ski pass charge for persons age 16 and older. In addition, there is a $5 vehicle entry fee for those without an annual permit (annual permits can be purchased at the park office for $25). Lake Maria State Park is located 10 miles northeast of Annandale.
