Carlene Kirkpatrick, 76

Carlene Kirkpatrick died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at her Kimball home, with family at her side. She was 76.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, at Kimball Christian Church with Pastor Kevin White officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Annandale. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale, and again one hour prior to the service Friday at the church; a prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. 

Carlene Linda Kirkpatrick was born July 27, 1942, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Carl and Arlene (Heng) Christensen. She grew up east of Annandale and graduated from Annandale High School with the Class of 1960. She worked at Bendix Elementary School in Annandale from 1973 until 2006, starting as a classroom aid and retiring as secretary. She continued to substitute with special education and in the school office until two years ago. Carlene owned and operated Stanley’s Family Restaurant along with her husband Dale. Carlene enjoyed being with all children, but especially enjoyed the time she had with her own grandchildren. She had a love for horses, and every spare moment she had was spent riding or caring for her horses and animals.

Carlene was preceded in death by her father Carl Christensen, Mother Arlene Rozenberg, stepfather Rick Rozenberg, stepson Jason Kirkpatrick, and nephews Doug and Dan.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Dale; children Jennifer Jarl of Rice, Tom (and Shelly) Jarl of Annandale, and Melanie Jarl of Knoxville, Tenn.; brother Chris (and Jody) Christensen of Shoreview; six grandchildren Melissa and Dustin (and Kelly) Erickson, Jonathon Green, Emily and Grace Jarl, and Sam Christiansen; five great-grandchildren Madisyn, Emma, Jessa, Isaac and Marlee; stepchildren Shannon, Stephanie, Danielle and April; nine step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Carlene’s grandchildren will serve as the urn bearers. Michael Tomlinson and Joyce Albert will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
