For the second time in as many days, the Kimball Cubs captured a comeback victory. Following a six-run, late-inning shelling to defeat Upsala yesterday, the Kimball girls did it again, this time to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.

Summer Zamora drove in five runs to lead the Cubs past HL-W-W, 16-11, Tuesday, April 9. Kimball trailed the Lakers by a score of 9-2 after two innings; however, the Cubs battled back and took the lead for good on a six-run fourth-inning explosion.

The comeback consisted of Julia Zipoy drawing a walk and scoring; Ashley Schindele walking and scoring; Summer Zamora doubling on a 3-2 count and scoring three runs; and Justice Boyer singling and scoring.

The Cubs collected 16 hits in the game. Zamora, Rachel Utecht, Bailey Joseph, Boyer, and Madaline Gustafson all had multiple hits for the victors.

Hitting: Kimball: Summer Zamora, 3 for 5, 5 RBI, double; Rachel Utecht, 3 for 4; Justice Boyer, 2 for 5, 3 RBI; Madaline Gustafson, 2 for 5, 3 RBI; Bailey Joseph, 2 for 4.

Rachel Utecht was credited with the win, hurling five innings, surrendering just one earned run, and fanning four Lakers’ hitters.
