Weather column: Parts of central Minnesota continue to clean-up following the severe weather that hit the region on Sunday.
Large hail and damaging winds were the main problem with the storms that pushed across the area. Thousands of Xcel Energy customers from St. Cloud, Waite Park, Sauk Rapids, and the Twins Cities were without power because of the storms.
Wind gusts to 80 mph were reported across parts of central Minnesota knocking down trees and causing roof damage to homes, barns, and garages. Also, nearly 3-inch diameter hail was also reported across parts of southern into central Minnesota.
It will be much quieter for the midweek. Temperatures will be warm on Wednesday and Thursday reaching the low- to mid-80s with lots of sunshine.
We do have the possibility for some scattered showers and thunderstorms mainly late Friday into Saturday. Some of those could linger into early Sunday. Certainly, it is good to see the moisture, but we don?Äôt need to see any additional severe weather!
Have a great weekend!
