Greenhands in the Spotlight

·

More than 200 FFA members in Region 6 traveled to Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center Thursday, Sept. 16, for Greenhands in the Spotlight (GITS). The conference focused on teaching the ninth-grade, first-year members the basics of the FFA, and to get them interested in agriculture. Kimball sent more than 30 freshmen to the event, greatly outnumbering any other school at the conference. Students learned FFA basics, leadership, officer roles and many other important aspects of the FFA. There were three content-based sessions, two fun sessions with rock climbing and free time, and a long lunch break. The group got to meet and interact with the Region Officer team who ran the conference. This will help them get a jump start on their FFA careers. Kimball students had a great time and were excited to join the FFA. The next meeting will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, in the high school cafetorium. Greenhands should arrive at 7 p.m. for a special Greenhand night.
