Kimball played at Litchfield on Dec. 17, in a non-conference match-up. The Dragons started hot and jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first four minutes. Kimball answered with a field goal by Ava Molitor, a three-pointer by Ellie Kuechle, and another field goal by Kristen Hilbert. That got the Cubs right back in the game, now trailing 13-10, with 10 minutes left in the opening half. Litchfield again built on its lead and raced to a 33-22 half-time lead.
In the second half, the Cubs had a tough time finishing possessions with quality shots, and the Dragons coasted to a 56-37 victory.
“It was a long week for the girls, playing their third game of the week … and on consecutive nights, it felt like we just ran out of gas tonight, while Litchfield did not have a game all week, until tonight,” expressed Coach Jeremy Kuechle.
The loss drops the Cubs’ record to 7-1, 3-0 in the CMC.
