Thom is a former college athlete and has coached many teams ranging from youth to varsity-level athletes.

Booster Club

A big thank you goes out to the Kimball Booster Club for donating this sign for our baseball field that can record the score as students are playing games. The sign was made by AK Graphics and should be ready for use next spring when the season begins. The scoreboard is a nice addition to the dugouts that the Booster Club also help pay for. The field which is used by our junior varsity team is really improving, thanks to the donations that have occurred from this group.

Changes and improvements coming to Kimball athletic fields

The storm that damaged equipment on the football field and track area will bring new equipment to replace the previous. A new scoreboard is starting to take shape located on the south end of the field. New beams are installed with a scoreboard coming that will be football and track compatible for the future. We are on schedule to receive the scoreboard before the first home game Saturday, Aug. 22.
New goal posts have arrived to replace the damaged ones and will be assembled soon. The pole vault and high jump pits were also damaged. New pits have been ordered and will arrive this fall ready for the spring track season. We are very fortunate the insurance has paid to replace the items lost in the storm with new equipment that our students will benefit from.

The ball fields are also getting some care this fall as well. Two baseball fields will have mounds built with a product called hill topper. Field 3 will receive this new mound and the batters box will also have this material installed. The product is expensive to start, but is of great quality with less maintenance required after games. The field by the elementary will also get a mound. In the past we have always had to bring a portable mound to pitch off of which is dangerous for the pitchers. The mound will be a nice addition for the 9th grade team and junior high teams to utilize during the season. The softball field 5 will also be getting a makeover with more details still being finalized with how that will look. The outside improvements were all made from donation money collected.
