The Kimball FFA finished the school year celebrating a successful state convention and awards banquet. Twenty members of the Kimball FFA went “Beyond the Blue” at the 79th annual Minnesota State FFA Convention held in St. Paul the end of April. Local FFA members competed in Career Development Events, served as official delegates, performed in the State FFA Band and Choir, participated in leadership sessions, and met new friends united by the common thread of the blue corduroy jacket. Members participating in the 2008 Minnesota State FFA Convention: Dairy Cattle Evaluation Team (10th place team, Gold Ranking) – Brandon Brinkman, Justin Brinkman, Jacob Kieke and Nathan Pramann; Meat Evaluation Team (Silver Ranking) – Ally Konz (16th individual), Abby Konz, Jackie Heinen and Lance Smallwood; Farm Management Team (Silver Ranking) – Paige Peglow, Tommy Linn, Beth Libbesmeier and Julie Lochen; Soils Team (Bronze Ranking) – Jared Capes, Kyle Messer and Burke Tagney; Horse Evaluation (Silver Ranking) – Ty Filzen; State FFA Choir – Amanda Kuseske; State FFA Band – Kelsey Klein, Jared Capes and Burke Tagney; and Official Delegates – Taylor Petty, Katie Brugger. The annual FFA Awards Banquet was held May 14 to recognize the accomplishments of our members. First year members were presented with Greenhand degrees and pins. Andrew Kieke and Matt Massmann were honored as Star Greenhands. Chapter FFA degrees and pins were presented to second year FFA members. Students were recognized for participating in Career Development Events, fruit sales, and lettering in FFA. The Blue and Gold Award went to TAHER Food Service. Taylor Petty was recognized as the Most Active FFA member. Ally Konz received both the DeKalb Leadership Award and the Hokkala Memorial. The Kimball FFA Alumni present
