At its Oct. 4 meeting, the Kimball City Council accepted five new firefighters to its volunteer fire department. Bradley Donnay, Kayleen Starcevic, Daniel Rose, Ronnie Rose and April Hentges are the newest members of the department. They will begin their official training soon. These five bring the number of volunteers to 28. Police Chief Rohloff received a check for $1,400 from Arnie Hendrickson of CenterPoint Minnegasco for radios and a tazer gun. After some discussion about the future of Kimball’s city hall, it was decided that the city will not pursue the purchase of the St. John’s Lutheran Church building at this time. The Kimball Area Historical Society has obtained a bid for necessary external repairs of the current city hall building, and will obtain a second bid for work to be done before winter. The Historical Society will also help in arranging a re-use study to determine the best use for the current city hall building if and when it has been repaired and/or restored. No other decision has been made as to whether to build new, add on to the fire hall, or renovate existing space for use as city offices and library. City engineer Randy Sabart introduced colleague Jim Schulz who will work with the city. Sabart was asked to prepare a sewer capacity report for the city in anticipation of future development.
