Mary E. Sandell of Fountain City, Wisc., died on Saturday, March 30, 2002, in South Haven. She was 55 years old.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, at Love of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Cloud with Rev. Kenneth Ferber officiating. Private interment followed in Lake Union Covenant Cemetery in rural South Haven. Friends called one hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday at the church in St. Cloud.

Mary Elaine Sandell was born on July 29, 1946, in St. Cloud to Wilford and Elaine (Erickson) Sandell. She was confirmed in Lake Union Covenant Church in rural South Haven. She attended grade school in South Haven and high school in Annandale. She graduated from the St. Cloud Vocational Technical Institute with a clerical degree. She worked as a waitress, cook, baker, and home health care aide. She married Melvin Tolzman in 1963, and they later divorced. In 1971 she married Richard Carlson, and they later divorced. She lived in Minnesota, Florida, Maryland and Wisconsin. She traveled to many states, and especially loved California. She lived in St. Cloud for several years before moving to Fountain City, Wisc., 10 years ago. She enjoyed her family, friends, flea markets, rummage sales, cooking, baking, nature, animals and wildlife.

Mary was preceded in death by her mother Elaine.

She is survived by her father Wilford Sandell of South Haven; brothers and sister: Jerry Sandell of south Haven, James (and Gayle) Sandell of Buffalo, and Tina (and Terry) McStotts of Cokato; Special friend Brandon Bork of Fountain City, Wisc.; nephews Josh and Ryan Sandell, Matt, Danny and Eric McStotts, niece Kallie Jo Sandell; great-niece Alyson McStotts; her cat Catlin and her dog Alexis.

Honorary pallbearers were Josh, Ryan and Kallie Jo Sandell, Matt, Danny and Eric McStotts.

Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
