Jennifer Schefers, a freshman social studies/secondary education major is the secretary of the history club at Southwest Minnesota State University for the 2004-05 academic year. The history club is dedicated to enhancing awareness of current political events as well as historical roots as members of the state and broader world community. A few primary tools for accomplishing their goals include sponsoring informative lectures and panel discussions. Schefers graduated from Kimball Area High School in 2004. She is the daughter of Theresa Schefers. oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Central Lakes College hosts its fourth engineering day for area high school mathematics and science students from 9-11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, on the Brainerd campus. Instructors Brian Kohn and Michael Miller have scheduled a morning of informational sessions presented by university engineering students. Students will describe projects and jobs in which they are involved while completing their degree. CLC alums Adam Kuiken and Debbie Jacklitch will discuss their involvement in engineering. Branelle Cibuzar will discuss his experiences as an intern with NASA. All three are mechanical engineering students at North Dakota State University. Instructor Kohn is a retired Air Force engineer and will talk about engineering opportunities in the military. Miller will talk about civil and environmental engineering. “These real-life talks should be fascinating and give a look at the variety to be found in a career in engineering,” Kohn said. CLC offers a two-year pre-engineering program that transfers credits to engineering schools. Registration is not required for this program, and students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.
