Sample ballots, where and when to vote

Sample ballots are published on page 15 of the Oct. 30, 2008, issue of the Tri-County News. Note that there are no city propositions on the ballot. Neither are there any Kimball school district candidates, bonds or propositions this year. Depending on where you live, your ballot may look different from this. For instance, some Maine Prairie Township residents may have school district issue in either the ROCORI district or the St. Cloud district. Similarly, Fair Haven Township residents may have either St. Cloud or Annandale school district issues. In both of these cases, township residents who live within the Kimball school district will not have any school district issues on the ballot. Because we could not contain all the possible configurations of sample ballots for our varied readership, we opted to include the City of Kimball ballot as a primary example. We have created a simple Web page to help you find other sample ballots, candidate information, and your polling place. There are links to candidate and political party Web sites, to Stearns County and Minnesota election information, and to both “yes” and “no” opinions on the constitutional amendment on the ballot. Go to www.tri-county-news.com/vote. The Kimball Public Library has a computer with internet access (available for free). If you do not have computer access and don’t know where to go to vote, you can call us in the Tri-County News office and we’ll look up your address on-line for you. Here’s a brief list of polling places for our immediate area: • City of Kimball residents vote at Kimball City Hall on Main St. • Maine Prairie Township residents vote at the Kimball Area Fire Hall (on Elm St. N., in the northwest corner of Kimball). • Fair Haven Township residents vote at the Fair Haven Town Hall. • Kingston Township residents vote at the Kingston Community Center. • City of Watkins residents vote at Watkins Community Center on Central Ave. • City of South Haven residents vote at the South Haven Fire Hall. • City of Eden Valley residents vote at Eden Valley Civic Center. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4. Everyone is encouraged to vote early in the day, if possible. If you are not yet registered to vote, you can register at your polling place. Be sure to bring photo ID and proof of residence.
