Christopher Sheehan, St. Paul, is the recipient of a $500 scholarship from the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council (MAELC). Sheehan is currently studying Agricultural, Food & Environmental Education at the University of Minnesota – St. Paul. Believing that education is the key to a successful future, MAELC is awarding a total of $25,000 to incoming and current students with plans to study Agricultural, Food & Environmental Education at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and the University of Minnesota – Crookston. Over the past seven years, MAELC has awarded over $140,000 in scholarships to agricultural education students. “We continue to enjoy having Christopher in our agricultural education family in Minnesota,” said Julie Tesch, MAELC Executive Director. “MAELC feels that by offering these scholarships we can help our students continue with their education and have a successful college experience.” Established in 1997 by the Minnesota Legislature, MAELC is comprised of 16 educators, legislators, government officials, and agribusiness and community organization representatives. The Council represents all of the major institutions and groups in Minnesota with an interest in agricultural education and serves as a focal point for initiatives to improve agricultural education in the state.
