Summary of unofficial June school board minutes

The Kimball School Board held its regular meeting at 6 p.m. June 19, 2019.

The board heard a parent concern during the community portion of the meeting. The board then approved the consent agenda consisting of approval of the
May 15 board minutes, approval of payments, treasurer’s report, resignation as summer Cubs’ Club Assistant from Amber Markwardt, resignation from Cathy Philips, Community Education Program Coordinator, and acceptance of donations and grants.

At the high school, a $2,797 grant was received to provide for a drone for the ag classroom; 10 students have signed up for youth apprenticeship opportunities with two of these students currently matched with businesses. Summer school is ending June 20. Staff business visits held May 24 was a great activity with an article in the Tri-County News. Life Touch has donated a decal for the front entrance at Door 3 – check it out! The superintendent gave a review of the legislative session, noted that he has been contacted by a couple of construction management companies, and has successfully negotiated the next two-year bus contract. Other reports were heard on negotiations, Benton-Stearns Education District, Health Safety, and Wellness, and the ECFE Advisory Committee meeting.

The two-year transportation contract with Hendricks Bus Service was approved. The FY20 budget was adopted, and Policy 529 – Staff Notification of Violent Behavior by Students. The board accepted the resignation from Keri Johnson, Elementary Principal, and approved the two-year secondary principal contract with Nancy Bonnifield.

A brief closed session was held to update the board on a parent concern. The meeting was adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
