Sunday was cooler and wetter

·

Weather: It was quite a weekend across Minnesota. Parts of Minnesota hit the low to mid 80s across southwestern Minnesota! Much of central. west central, and northern Minnesota climbed into the mid to upper 70s on Saturday.

Cooler and wetter weather arrived on Sunday as a cold front pushed across the state. This was the focus of some showers and even some thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon and evening.

If that wasn?Äôt enough, another round of precipitation arrived on Monday in the form of rain and snow across parts of the region. Certainly it isn?Äôt that unusual for snow to fall in April, but it is always hard to go from the 70s and 80s to the possibility of some snow in the forecast along with colder weather!

More rain is projected for Wednesday and again late Thursday into Friday. Parts of Minnesota could see some heavy rain at times. Temperatures will be above normal for the midweek into the weekend.

It will be a mild day on Saturday along with a slight chance of rain mainly late in the afternoon and evening. Drier and cooler weather should return by Easter Sunday!

By the way, Severe Weather Awareness Week is coming up April 17-21 of this year. It is a time to get your home, business, and other institutions prepared for the upcoming severe weather season. I will have some tips to keep all of us safe arriving soon!

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Weather history: On this date in 1931 NWS records show that it was hot across Minnesota. In fact, it hit a ?ÄúJuly-like?Äù reading of 90 degrees F at Beardsley, Minn., in west central Minnesota!?Äù

Weather fact: Did you know that thunderstorms can produce straight-line winds that can exceed 100 miles? As a result, you should treat severe thunderstorms just as you would tornadoes!
