The Wright County Sheriff?Äôs Office received a report of a medical emergency in Victor Township. Initial investigation indicated that Jeremy Daniel Fiecke, 29 of Howard Lake, was standing on his dock on Lake Mary playing with his dog when he was struck and pinned under water by his Bobcat. The Bobcat was unoccupied and rolled from the top of an embankment down to the dock. A fisherman on Lake Mary witnessed the incident and contacted authorities. Fiecke was pronounced dead at the scene.

20 years ago

Kimball Golf Club board members cut the ribbon to open their new back nine last week. The back nine officially opened to the public Aug. 1. President Bill Liedman, cut the ribbon and was the first to tee off on the back nine.

30 years ago

Dewey and Theresa Cossairt of Kimball have won the Centennial Grand Marshal Contest and will ride in a place of honor near the beginning of the parade. Their winning combined number of years living in the Kimball school district is 161. Second place winners were George and Mabel Huro with a total of 155 years. Third place was Vern and Gertrude Schmidt with a total of 148 years.

40 years ago

Watkins held the largest celebration in 20 years July 31, with Bicentennial Kraut and Wurst Day. The Grand Day Parade consisted of more than 76 units. Following the parade there was food, refreshments, games and a program saluting the Bicentennial.
