Two businesses to build in industrial park in Kimball

·

At its March 6 regular meeting, the Kimball city council held several public hearings, all four of which pertain to two businesses in the “Industrial Park” set aside along Highway 15 north of 135th Street.

Berscheid Trucking had purchased the large parcel of land, zoned industrial but so far unimproved. They plan to make it a hub for their trucking business. One of the public hearings March 6 was to assign an address to that property (9296 135th St.), and another was to allow them to divide the parcel so they can sell the northern portion, about 13.5 acres, to Fox Haven Farms (which can be assigned its own address once the division is recorded).

Fox Haven Farms (Ben and Ellie Fox) had earlier applied for rezoning for an ag-related business on a different piece of property. One of the March 6 public hearings was for them to withdraw that request. The final March 6 hearing was to request a conditional use permit for Fox Haven Farms on the northern section of the property currently owned by Berscheid Trucking. They plan to build an agricultural products processing facility there, selling bagged grains and building material products to the general public.

Both businesses will be located closer to Highway 15 than to the residential development nearby, but burms and trees are being discussed to further separate the businesses from neighboring homes.

The Kimball Fire Department will host its annual breakfast fundraiser Palm Sunday, April 2. Funds this year will go toward purchase of a new fire truck, with expected delivery in about a year and a half.

The next regular meeting of the Kimball city council will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 3. The meetings are live-streamed on Facebook, and available for viewing afterward.
