Weather column: It was a breezy but comfortable day on Sunday to close out the weekend. Temperatures were generally in the upper 60s and lower 70s with dew points in the lower 40s. This made for almost a fall-like day.
Warmer air returned on Monday. High temperatures reached the upper 70s and low- to mid-80s with lots of sunshine.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to return Tuesday night into Wednesday as a system will move out of North Dakota and push into northwest and central Minnesota Tuesday night into Wednesday. A few of these storms could be on the strong side.
Drier air will push back into the area on Thursday before another system arrives on Friday. Temperatures will remain well above average for much of the week and into the weekend.
If you are a sky-watcher, and if conditions are favorable, you will be able to see the last-quarter moon come up to the lower right of the “Great Square of Pegasus, which will be standing on its corner in the east.”
Have a wonderful rest of the week!
Weather history: On this in 1864 historical records show that “light frost was reported in St. Paul as a chilly air mass moves over the state.”
Weather fact: Did you know that frost forms through “sublimation, when water vapor in the air condenses at a temperature below freezing?”
