Monday, Sept. 26, at about
1:21 a.m., Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, with Meeker County Sheriff’s Office and the Eden Valley Fire Dept. responded to a report of a dead woman found in a residential fire pit. The dead woman was identified as Bonita Louise Schwandt, age 57 of Eden Valley. She had been sitting alone by a backyard fire pit at her residence. Her body was discovered by her boyfriend when he went outside to check on her and found that she had apparently fallen in the fire pit. Emergency responders arrived and Schwandt was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed. Initial findings from the investigation and forensic testing indicate that alcohol was most likely a contributing factor in her death.
The investigation is continuing.
