Eden Valley March council meeting

·

The Eden Valley city council met for their regular meeting Wednesday, March 1.

The city is looking for someone to hire as a public works employee for the summer. The council discussed  renewing the land lease for the city’s irrigation system, with a decision to be made later in the year. The new public works truck is working out well.

The new full-time officer began training in Eden Valley on Monday, March 6. Because he has prior experience, it is hoped that he can move through field training quickly with Chief Evan Borscheid.

The joint fire/rescue board met Feb. 15. The Eden Valley Fire Department had a total of 34 calls in 2022, with 657.2 man-hours and an average of 10.28 personnel responding per call. The Joint Board approved moving forward with adding an automatic -mutual-aid agreement with Watkins and/or Paynesville for structure fires. Eden Valley Rescue had a total of 161 calls during 2022.

A council workshop was scheduled for March 8, and a final public forum regarding the city’s possible adoption of state building codes was scheduled for March 15.

The next regular meeting of the Eden Valley city council will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 5. Meetings are usually recorded, and viewable on the city’s YouTube site.
