University of North Dakota held its Fighting Sioux Football Awards Banquet Jan. 27. Mitch Braegelmann, son of Roger and Sheila Braegelmann of Kimball, anchored one of the region’s top offensive lines and started all 13 games at center after missing the entire 2005 season with a medical hardshop. entire 2005 season with a medical hardshop. Braegelmann was honored at the banquet with the following: 2006 Letter Winner, Athletic Directors Award of Merit, NCC Commissioner’s Academic Football Honor Roll, All-North Central Conference Academic Football Team, All-North Central Conference Football Team – 1st Team, Daktronics All-Region – 1st Team, Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-Northwest Region – 2nd Team, ESPN the Magazine Academic All District – 1st Team, Todd Thomas Memorial Scholarship and Most Valuable Offensive Lineman (team vote). UND went 11-2 overall in 2006 and captured a second straight North Central Conference Championship, and were NCAA Division II Quarterfinalist.
